Basil Lenzo

Chairman, MBA, GAICD

Basil Lenzo is a third-generation fisherman based in Fremantle and has been a skipper, owner and investor in the industry for over 37 years. He became a shareholder in 2004 and a member of the board in 2007. Basil brings strong business, and investment experience, has a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Western Australia and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Basil also serves as an independent director on the Rural Financial Counselling Service WA.

Basil is a member of the Performance and Nomination Committee.

Kris Carlberg

Deputy Chair, M.APP,SCI, MBA, MAICD

Kris is a third-generation fisher whose grandfather was a founding director of the Geraldton Fishermen’s Co-operative. Kris holds degrees in Fisheries Science and Aquaculture and completed an MBA in Marine Resource Management in 2010.

After completing his science degrees, Kris was employed by the Geraldton Fishermen’s Co-operative as the inaugural Research Officer, based at GFC’s live lobster facility in Geraldton. Kris held this position for two years before joining the family fishing business. Kris has been lobster fishing since 1995.

Kris is a member of the Geraldton Professional Fishermen’s Association and has also been a member of the Abrolhos Islands Management Advisory Committee. He is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Kris is currently Chair of the Capital Review Committee and a member of the Performance and Nomination Committee.

Darren Bailey

BBus, MAICD

Darren Bailey is a third-generation fisherman and has fished in the A and B zones since 1997. He has been a member of the board since 2007 and was Deputy Chairman from 2009 to 2016.

Darren brings broad experience with a Bachelor of Business degree, having practised full time in Geraldton and Perth for several years as an accountant.

Darren has been Treasurer of the Geraldton Professional Fishermen’s Association and the Wallabi Group Body Corporate, together with being a Director of the Wallabi Carting Company. He is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Darren is currently on the Capital Review Committee and the Audit and Risk Management Committee.

Peter Brown

BSc

Peter Brown and his family have been involved in rock lobster fishing in the A and B zones since 2005.
After graduating from UWA with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, Peter gained experience as an accountant before successfully obtaining his CPA certification.

Peter has held several senior management roles and was instrumental in developing Westnet Internet Service Provider in Australia.

Peter has also held positions on the board of the Geraldton Professional Fishermen’s Association, the Midwest not-for-profit ‘Charity Begins at Home’ and is also president of the Geraldton Amateur Basketball Association.

Kent Stanton

Fisherman Director

Kent has been a member of the Board of the Co-operative since 2012.

Initially completing a trade as a Fitter and Machinist before taking over from his father Harry in cray fishing, Kent has over 30 years of experience and is still cray fishing.

Kent has been a Shareholder since 1987, and his business has been supplying crayfish to the Cooperative since 1972.

During his time on the Board, Kent has completed several courses, one being the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a course on Finance.

He brings 12 years experience of being a Director of GBSC, a Building and Construction Company, and Roebourne Nominees, which deals with transient accommodation in the Northern part of WA.

Kent is a Capital Review Committee and Performance & Nomination Committee member.

Terry Lissiman

MAICD

Terry has been a loyal Co-op supplier for over 28 years. Terry skippers his vessel, Elusive, owns and operates A & B zone MFLs and is based in Port Denison.

Throughout his career, Terry has worked in both the Northern Prawn fishery in the Gulf of Carpentaria and the East Coast Tuna Industry and the Western Rock Lobster Industry.

Terry is currently the Vice Chairman of the Western Rock Lobster Council. He is also currently undertaking Rock Lobster research for the University of Western Australia. Terry has also been actively involved in several Boards and Councils, including as a Councilor on the Irwin Shire and a member of RLIAC.

Terry has also held committee positions on several sporting and fishing associations.

Terry is a member of the Audit and Risk Management Committee and the Capital Review Committee.

Allyn Wasley

Independent Director, B.Bus GAICD

Allyn has been an independent director of the Co-operative since January 2018. He contributes strongly through strategy, finance and people leadership, having had over 15 years as an executive in a co-operative.

Until the end of 2015, Allyn was the General Manager of Strategy and Business Development and, before that, as Chief Financial Officer of the CBH Group. During this period, he worked closely with the downstream value-added investments of South East Asia and Australia, holding a range of Board positions. Currently operates a portfolio of business opportunities that are focused on assisting business leaders in the areas of strategic discovery and execution. Allyn is also the Chief Financial Officer for a wave technology company Bombora Wave Power.

Allyn holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting), a Post Graduate Diploma in Management and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Allyn is Chairman of the Performance and Nomination Committee and a member of the Audit and Risk Management Committee and Capital Review Committee.
Nicki Anderson Independent Director

Nicki Anderson

Independent Director, B. Business (Marketing), MBA, FAICD

Nicki is currently Deputy Chair of the Australian Made Campaign Limited and non-executive director for ASX Listed Graincorp (ASX: GNC), Collins Foods (ASX:CKF), Craig Mostyn Group and Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. Nicki is the Former Chair of the Monash University Advisory Board for the marketing faculty.

Nicki has held key leadership positions at numerous Australian consumer goods businesses within the food and beverage sector.  She is an accomplished leader and non-executive director with broad experience in strategy, sales, marketing, customer experience and innovation within food, beverage and consumer goods businesses both in Australia and internationally (including Coca-Cola Amatil, Cadbury Schweppes, McCain, Nestle and Kraft). Nicki is a true global citizen, having lived in Denmark, Canada and the United States, where she was Vice President of Innovation for Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages based in New York.  Nicki has strong links to Australia’s agricultural, manufacturing and e-commerce sectors, focusing on exporting quality products to the world.

Nicki holds an Executive MBA from the University of NSW (AGSM), a Bachelor of Business (Marketing major) from the University of Technology Sydney, and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Marc Anderson

Chief Executive Officer

Marc Anderson joined Geraldton Fishermen’s Co-operative as CEO in March 2024.

Marc is an Australian Institute of Company Directors graduate and holds a Graduate Diploma in Business (Marketing).

Marc has over 20 years of experience driving superior results in the fast-moving consumer goods sector. Marc is a multi-skilled executive with extensive expertise in building and developing brands, international trade, supply-chain management, and stakeholder engagement.

Marc is passionate about food and beverage, as evidenced by his extensive experience with well-known Australian brands like Treasury Wine Estates and Brownes Dairy. His dedication and commitment to excellence in his senior roles have seen him sit on various advisory groups and boards throughout his career.

A collaborative leader, Marc understands the value of teamwork in achieving strategic results.

 

 

Leith Teakle

General Manager - Member Services

Originally from Geraldton, Leith was appointed to General Manager – Member Services in 2016. Leith is a highly experienced Business Relationship Manager (BRM) in regional, national and international roles within primary producer co-operatives. Leith joined GFC from CBH Group, where he worked for thirteen years in various roles, including BRM, Export and Domestic sales, logistics and operational management.

Leith has a genuine passion for the cooperative structure and is interested in returning value to the primary producer.

Shean Ong

General Manager - Finance

Shean holds a Bachelor of Business in Accounting, is a Certified Practicing Accountant and an Associate of Governance Institute of Australia and has extensive financial management experience with Australian and international listed and private businesses.

Shean joined GFC in 2019, and in that short time, she has proven herself to be a talented, hard-working, innovative, loyal and well-respected member of the Finance and broader GFC team.

Glen Davidson

General Manager - Export Operations

Before joining the GFC team in 2001, Glen worked as a Research Scientist in New Zealand, Canada and Australia, undertaking several government- and industry-funded research projects on a range of commercial fish and shellfish species. Glen started with GFC in the position of Research and Quality Manager – a position he held until 2010 when he became the General Manager – Operations. Glen’s scientific background and knowledge of the fishery has served him well in his current role.

Glen held the General Manager of Supply Chain Operations position, ensuring the smooth operation of the supply chain from fisher’s boats to GFC’s facilities until 2024. In the middle of 2024, Glen moved to Perth to lead the Export Operations team.

 
Michael May Geraldton Fishermens Cooperative Shared Services GM

Michael May

General Manager - Supply Chain Operations

Having grown up in a fishing family at the Abrolhos Islands, Michael has a long history of involvement with GFC that spans two generations.
Michael joined GFC in 2017 as Safety Manager, bringing his skills and knowledge acquired from his work in the mining and resources sector to advance GFC’s OH&S framework and commitment to safety for employees, Members and visitors.

Michael joined the executive team in February 2020 and, under the Shared Services division, leads a team looking after Risk & Governance, OH&S, People Services, ICT, Quality Assurance/ Control and Corporate Affairs. Michael moved to General Manager of Supply Chain, Operations in 2024.

Bryan Keay

General Manager - Trading & Business Development

Bryan comes to GFC with 13 years of experience in trade and business development. Bryan has been running his own highly successful grain brokerage firm most recently. He worked in senior grain trading positions at Gavilon and Australia’s largest cooperative, CBH.

Bryan has a strong understanding of the drivers and motivations of cooperatives and is looking forward to bringing these skills to GFC and expanding them in the lobster market.

Bryan holds a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours and Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment.
