In late 2021, GFC was appointed as a member of the International Cooperative Fisheries Organisation (ICFO).

The ICFO was founded in 1976 and is part of the International Co-operative Alliance. The ICFO was established to promote the development of fisheries co-operatives worldwide, promote trade, share co-operative training and education materials and information on fishery matters.

ICFO membership has expanded to include 22 fisheries from 20 countries worldwide. GFC looks forward to sharing, collaborating and learning from our co-operative partners around the world to advance the interests of our Members and fishery.
