Blessings have long been a tradition of European seaside ports, wishing sailors, fishers and mariners alike a safe journey. The tradition was brought to Australia after World War II and has evolved to family-friendly community days, with plenty of activities on the water and land.

In addition to the traditional elements, the Blessings often include maritime-themed games and competitions, like rope coiling and pot races. Food trucks, market stalls, fresh seafood and live entertainment round out the entertainment.

Blessings of the Fleet provide an opportunity to further connect the commercial fishing industry and communities. Geraldton Fishermen’s Co-operative proudly supports Blessing of the Fleet events along the West Australian coastline, including the Fremantle, Dongara and Geraldton Blessing of the Fleets.
